Cancer does not discriminate. Whenever it appears in the someone’s diagnosis, it produces a similar set of emotions: fear, uncertainty, and bewilderment, which can easily lead to despair. I had the same feelings for all three of my diagnoses. But for the Christian, there is hope…hope through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Believers have the privilege of having the risen life-giving Savior living inside of them. And as we choose to grow in the knowledge of Him, especially at this time, we can experience a peace and strength that we never thought possible.
There is hope.
El cáncer no discrimina. Cuando aparece en el diagnóstico de alguien, provoca un conjunto similar de emociones: miedo, incertidumbre y desconcierto, que fácilmente pueden llevar a la desesperación. Yo experimenté los mismos sentimientos con mis tres diagnósticos. Pero para el cristiano, hay esperanza… esperanza a través de una relación personal con Jesucristo. Los creyentes tenemos el privilegio de que el Salvador resucitado y dador de vida habite en nosotros. Y al decidir crecer en el conocimiento de Él, especialmente en estos momentos, podemos experimentar una paz y una fortaleza que nunca creímos posibles.
Hay esperanza.

I had the pleasure of leading a home-based Bible study for several years. Most of the lessons revolved around lessons the Lord was teaching me through the trials and difficult times in my life. As I went through these periods, I began to read my Bible more intensely in search of answers, encouragement, and a closer relationship with God. Typically as I read, a certain passage would catch my attention. I would read it over and over again, take notes, and meditate on the passage. I would also pray and listen to what the Lord was telling me. Next I would begin to write. The result was the next Bible study lesson.
The next time we gathered for our study session, I would jokingly begin by saying, “Well, the Lord was on my case again. Here’s the lesson for this evening.” As I passed out copies of the study, our host would smile and laughingly say, “Good! Brother Coleman, I like it when He gets on your case.”
“We would laugh, but the truth of the matter was that the lessons I experienced turned out to be most effective in changing my life and the lives of others. They were written out of pain, anguish, sadness, disappointment, and bewilderment. They were written when I was driven to my knees in search of answers; in search of a “touch” from the Lord.
Driven To Our Knees is a series of bible studies written to help those of you who have been through trials and are searching for answers from the Lord. You know that the answers reside with Him, but you need help understanding His ways. The studies are written in plain, straight-forward language, designed for individuals and small groups. Included are lesson background information, referenced scriptures, key points, and discussion/meditation questions. Also included are forms for you to document answers to your prayers. This allows you to be encouraged by your own testimony.
