“Don’t let your spirit rush to be angry, for anger abides in the heart of fools. ” CSB
The jet stream is a fast moving narrow current of air in the upper atmosphere. Winds are intense and speeds can reach over 200 mph. Jet streams are significant because they have a direct impact on the weather we experience. Even though they exist 5 to 6 miles above the earth and are basically invisible, their effects on our weather here on the ground are felt by everyone.

This scripture speaks about the emotion of anger. It is a normal human emotion, but Ecclesiastes warns against letting it rest, settle or lodge in your heart. When it does, it’s like sending it to the “jet stream” of your life…that area of intensity that ends up affecting everyone around you. You might try to hide it, but “jet stream” impact cannot be hid or contained.
Do you snap at people not directly associated with the cause of your anger? Do normal conversations end up becoming confrontational? Are your thoughts consumed with revenge or bitterness? Do you play mental movies exploring all variations and people associated with your anger? Is “jet stream” anger affecting your sleep and other aspects of your health? If so, you can easily enter the realm of “foolish” behavior.
Perhaps anger is not in your “jet stream”, but other things such as: jealousy, pride, greed, selfishness, unforgiveness, carrying the pain of past hurts into the present.
The Bible tells us to guard our minds hearts, and even provides directives on what to think about:
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8 ESV
Don’t let anger or any other negative emotion rise to the level of the “jet stream” of your life. Your foolish actions will eventually cause havoc in your life and the lives of others around you.
