Proverb 12:15

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

Have you ever been around someone who thinks they have all the answers? Someone who can confidently tell you their opinion as if it was fact written in stone? Not only are they opinionated, but obstinate, with an attitude. And when someone tries to correct them, or at least offer a different viewpoint, the person offering advice gets rejected almost before the words leave their mouth.

Well those are the characteristics of a fool. Behind this attitude of “you can’t tell me nothing”, are pride, arrogance, selfishness, and insecurity. All of the things that are obstacles to fellowship with God.

God did not make us “gods” in the sense that we have all knowledge and wisdom. Seeking wisdom from Him and the people He works through has benefits:

  • Creates a teachable attitude within us
  • Creates a humble mindset
  • Opens the door for relationship with others
  • Enables us to grow personally
  • Allows us to see and take advantage of opportunities we otherwise would not have know about

Open the door to wisdom with a teachable heart. You never know what God might reveal through a closer fellowship with Him.
