Can anyone take fire in his lap and his clothes not be burned? Or can a person walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched?
The context of this passage deals with a warning against adultery, but there are other principles and applications that we can apply to our lives.

One of them is that our actions have consequences. Worldly wisdom and philosophies will only stress things that bring ease, comfort, and pleasure; things that appeal to our flesh, pride, or selfish nature.
But the Bible teaches that there is a “flip side,” i.e., consequences that may be delayed but unavoidable.
So remember, can a man sin without experiencing the consequences? But also remember, can a man lead a righteous life of integrity without experiencing the blessings of God?
