Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.
The key phase in this passage is “steadfast love”. It comes from the Hebrew word chesed. It is a word often used to describe an essential part of God’s character. It speaks of loyalty, consistency, and dependability. It is often used to describe God’s mercy and compassion. Sometimes it carries the sense of convent obligation and is demonstrated throughout the Bible in God’s relationship with the nation of Israel.

God wants us, as His children, to express chesed as a way of life, as something that defines us. Think about it…if we were to show loyalty, kindness, mercy, compassion and steadfast love towards others, can you imagine the impact we would have? In our families, in our community, and in this world. Many of the problems that plague our society would disappear if more of us would express chesed as a way of life.
The neat thing is that there is a benefit for us too…”favor and good success in the sight of God and man.” It all starts with remembering God’s teaching and commandments and keeping them in our hearts (Proverbs 3:1).
Start a new way of life today. Be the man, woman, boy, or girl, God has called you to be.
