Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good (encouraging) word makes it glad. (AMP)
If you watch your local news casts for two or three days, you will find enough things happening around you to make you concerned. Most things over which you have no control. The more you listen, the more concerned you become.
If you just live for a while, life itself will bring enough “drama” in your life to keep you off balance, wondering, “What in the world will happen next?”
If we take an honest look at our own thoughts, motives, and actions there’s enough to make us feel down. We think wrong thoughts, that lead to wrong motives, which lead to actions we later regret.

So there is enough in life to make our hearts heavy, to make things look so dark that we can’t see anything positive.
But sometimes an encouraging word, spoken at the right time, in the right way, can change our whole outlook. The words may contain answers that solve a particular problem, or they just help us see light, in the midst of darkness.
Today, be a light in someone’s life. Share a kind, encouraging word. By helping others, you may even help yourself. There is power in an encouraging word.
