Proverbs 11:5

The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked walks into it instead.

Here’s a “Vic” translation: People who conduct themselves in a just, lawful and righteous manner avoid a lot of trouble. But people who are wicked, morally wrong, ungodly and routinely do bad things, walk “smack dab” into a whole lot of trouble.

As I read and thought about this scripture, the following pictures came to mind:

Picture 1
Picture 2

We’ve all seen this scripture play out in real life…even in our own lives. And especially for Picture 2, you wonder of other people, “How in the world could they not see it coming?” But when we reflect on our own lives, and the trouble we’ve brought upon ourselves, we realized that sometimes “sin” feels good. And when we are able to get away with doing something we know we shouldn’t do, its almost like validation to do it again…and again, and again. We get caught up in the excitement, fun, or what ever pleasure the “bad things” provide. They soon blind us to the possible consequences. Until all of a sudden…”Ooops!”

If you had to objectively grade your thoughts, words, and conduct for the past week, what grade would you give yourself? Are you slowly but surely walking blindly towards a “trouble pit”? Watch out…you could suddenly fall into unpleasant consequences.
