17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
19 My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
21 bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
Almost everybody aspires to be prosperous and to gain more wealth. To achieve our aspirations, we increase our education, we purse business opportunities, we attempt to network with the “right people”, we purchase things that show our wealth, we try to climb the corporate ladder, or in some cases, create our own ladder to the top by starting our own business. All these activities are good, but did you know that the Bible provides clear instructions to wealth and prosperity, even enduring wealth and prosperity?
It starts with seeking wisdom. The word “seek” comes from a Hebrew word that means “to look early for; to look diligently for”. Its not a casual “I’ll soak it up, if it comes my way” type seeking. Its intentional; its focused, its heart felt, its persevering, and sometimes painstaking. We usually seek like this for things that are valuable to us; things we truly desire.
So let’s not “put the cart before the horse”. If you want enduring prosperity, seek wisdom. And if you want wisdom, seek the Lord, Who gives it liberally, without finding fault or casting blame or criticism. (James 1:5)
